A Picture Painted Too Rosy
By Merle Moshiri, Huntington Beach
Monday, May 7, 2007 | Your article makes no mention of the huge amount of fossil fuel these once thorough cooling systems use and at a time when the cost of fuel is skyrocketing, thus the enormous cost of desal water. Nor do you mention that in some cases, Sweetwater in particular, there will actually be no desalinated water or very little, "in the pipes" at all.
You paint a rosy picture of a company that has no success in the USA with producing desalinated water in this volume. Their Tampa Bay project is already at $29 million in cost overruns and the plant still does not work. Buyers bewater!
