SLOP's Birthday

Published: Thursday, May 31, 2007 12:22 PM PDT

Well, this blog is now officially a year old. Obviously, I've been writing longer and our site is working toward its third year, but this particular forum is celebrating its first birthday today. Loyal readers might remember that last year at this time we completely redesigned the site.

It used to look like this.

And yes, the Scott Lewis on Politics blog was born with the switch to the new format. I only managed 430 posts over the year. I can do better. Thanks for sticking around to see.

Felicidades. You are making a real contribution to a better San Diego -- god knows, we have no where to go but up -- and voice readers are appreciative. Now, resolve 1) not to move away to a greener pasture or 2) to change the format again and 3) to go a little easier on the City Attorney who may be tough to take but is essentially on the side of the angels.

Congratulations, Scott, and happy first anniversary for 'SLOP'. Very unique how the acronym worked out that way. Then again, I bet you have days where some of what you are covering in the news really does seem like slop. But, if so, keep at it, and maybe someday the amount of 'slop' in our wonderful city will diminish. Some of us -- you and me -- would love to see that day. Thanks, Scott, for your fine work.

Scott, Keep up the excellent work. I am gratified with your research that makes the blog credible. I usually don't bother with most editorial commentators because they are just spouting their personal beliefs; but, your work asks good questions and backs them up with good references. I disagree with Not a City Employee on his/her third point. Seems to me that someone needs to call the City Attorney on making attacks on City staff without solid facts. How can he get away with calling for the resignations/firings of Warren and others when he doesn't know what the facts are. And, assuming they DID make a mistake; is the mistake the kind of thing that should require their removal? Am I wrong to suspect that his attacks on City staff appear to be a bit vindictive, given the budget cuts? What is the truth?
