A Fall Vacation

Published: Sunday, September 16, 2007 5:50 PM PDT

Five-years worth of frequent flyer miles, built up ironically by not necessarily flying but actually by simply buying, are sending me far enough away that I can't use e-mail. Or, at least, it will be much harder.

We'll see about that. Assuming I can't ruminate about local politics from the top of a Central American volcano, I'll sign off until then. I'll be back soon enough, thanks so much for your continued support.

The day the news stopped -- now everybody has to go on vacation: Sanders will have to quit flip-flopping, his boss Sainz will be forced into a lapse of reality from the drama queen stage, Aguirre will have to let go of Big Bird's tail feathers, the Chargers will have to pay cash, Fabiani will have to stop squirrling away the truth, Scott Peters (no one would know him by just his last name) will actually have to work in the public interest, the fired Eck/ Waring duo will have to be forgotten all over again, CCDC will have to get off its knees, untie its bib and wipe its mouth, Sempra will have to spank its step-child SDG&E for trying to trash our cactus garden, and Sunroad and Manchester will have to quit the evil twin thing and seriously ponder the deep concept of 'community development.'

Scott, you are too late! All Central American volcanos and their magma footprints, tomorrow's equivalent to oil deposit rights, have been reserved by shadowy Halliburton subsidiaries. Halliburton has been kind enough to lease space to Starbucks along most calderas, but has still not worked out how to use geothermal energy to promote oil consumption. Oh, bother. The wireless still works. Would you like a lava latte?

Try Picaya, it's active and you can climb to the top, smell the sulfur, look into the steaming crater, and potentially see a minor eruption. Bring a raincoat and some thermals, it gets cold at the top.

Scott, have a great adventure. Do not take your cell phone with you, or get one with a number nobody knows, in case of emergency. We will all miss you but wish you the best !

Enjoy, Scott. I hope you don't hit a typhoon. Or hurricane. But either is better than vacationing with BBH. Do you think he wears sandals with black socks and cheezy, European style Hawaiian shirts? Bet you...

BBH .... there is some dude out the in the Voice land that is editing unnecessarily and that's a shame! Anyhow, Scott you'd better get back here in a jiffy 'cause Sanders and Aguirre are battling out. I suspect with some of Sanders decisions lately he's going to be apologizing alot. I can't wait to the Mayoral debates. Bring it on!

Scott, Don't you know there is a volcano here that is about to blow. You're missing the Mike & Jerry show. Isn't political schizophrenic redundant?
