City employees will be retaking a mandatory test on disaster preparedness administered by the Department of Homeland Security.

The decision comes in the wake of a News 8 investigation, which alleged that some city employees were given cheat sheets to take the test.

The city discovered "inconsistencies in the testing protocols used among certain City departments," said a news release issued today by the office of Mayor Jerry Sanders.

The release said "some" city employees would retake the test by the end of January; it did not specify how many. A spokesman for Sanders did not immediately return a call asking for clarification. News 8 reported that the cheat sheets were distributed to as many as 1,200 city parks and recreation employees.
