"Wow -- this is sobering. And inspiring. Thanks for your good work. It shifts my ways of thinking to know that this is an issue that connects so directly to people in our own community. I'm wondering what a person like me might be able to do to help support your work?"

Mvetter, thank you for asking. I didn’t know what kind of questions we’d get on this blog today, but yours is a welcome one.

There are many ways you can support our organization, whether by donating, volunteering, or just telling your friends about the work we do. I’m happy to speak to classes, church groups, service clubs, and other organizations about torture and the people we serve. You can find out more on our website.

Also, we’re having an event on Sunday, Feb. 24 featuring Carlos Mauricio, a torture survivor from El Salvador, and youth from the Owl & Panther expressive arts group. These young adults from Uganda, Mali, and El Salvador will be reading their published stories and poetry that reflect their past experiences and the challenges they face adjusting to life in America. This is a great opportunity for you to support our work and learn more about the population we serve.
