Waste Waste Waste

By Dianne Parham, Normal Heights

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 | "The San Diego County Water Authority is rolling out its $1.8 million advertising campaign that implores the region's residents to stop using quite so much water." How about just getting water wasters like Scott Peters to save their fair share of water instead of going after people who have been conserving for several years? I'm tired of being told to save save save when Scott Peters and a couple of his pals on City Council waste waste waste.

"So let me get this straight -- just because one individual is not conserving as he ought to be, the rest of us should not be reminded to conserve or heed the reminder? For the love of christ, can we stop being such a bunch of petty whiners?! It's good to know if our electeds aren't conserving, so we can judge their sense of civic obligation on it. It's not giving free reign to the rest of us that we should be able to waste too. Even if you've been conserving for years, you should try to conserve more. We all should -- regardless of what our neighbor/govt. representative is doing. If we wait around for everyone to suffer at equal levels, there will be no water left to save. Just do what is within your means to do, and stop whining about the rest of the world. Grow up!"

"I like Wah as much as I like wah-wah. I especially like the tone of Wah's response here: he/she displays common sense, growing impatience, and sounds ready, perhaps, to throw the bums out of City Hall en masse, in response to all the lying and whining and spin we've had to endure for so many years. Funny and right on. Vote for Lightner in District 1, Whitburn in District 3, Emerald in District 7 and George in District 5; re-elect honest City Attorney Mike Aguirre and take a chance on Steve Francis for Mayor. A new broom sweeps clean!"

People like you are the reason the City is upside down. If City leaders like Scott "Million Gallon Man" Peters does not have to follow the rules then why should anyone else??????? If the San Diego County Water Authority wants to conserve water they can START by making Scott Peters (who uses 15 times the average person) get in line. Until then they can put a cork in their propaganda machine. Business as usual in San Diego."

"What an intelligent post from Billy Bob Henry; "Peters does not have to follow the rules then why should anyone else???????" What an intelligent way of looking at things. "Until then they can put a cork in their propaganda machine" You're kidding right? Wah wah wah's post is right on point; people should do the right thing and stop pointing fingers at others who don't and stop whining about it. What I took from his post was we should all conserve and lead by example. We should hold those accountable by judging their lack of civic obligation to lead by example and in this case Peters lack of conservation. His last comment is also right on point; GROW UP. This applies to you also BBH."

"Get elected and go xeroscape or else. Is this leadership by example?Where is this written except in the dillusional world of the anonymous armchair menopausals? I'm sure it matters very little that in Peter's first campaign he committed to finding local water sources and has driven his staff on that search ever since. Wasn't that Mr Peters with Ms Frye on TV 24 this morning leading the Water Day Observance? Perhaps you'd have better satisfied, instead, if he were home ripping out the Torrey Pines? Perhaps a re-location to Palm Desert, whilst serving as a San Diego City Councilman,is now a civic obligation of elective office? Xeroscape or political perdition. Seeing all those kids this morning reminded me of the joys of being child-like. You folks remind me of CHILDISH!"
