Another point is that the 1st endorsement by an organization or spokesperson is the most important because it creates momentum, making it that much easier for the next one to endorse. It would not surprise me to see endorsements for Francis from labor and enviros pick up steam."

We know candidates need money to campaign because most people are disinterested in elections and don't take the time to inform themselves on the candidates and issues. Endorsements serve as a proxy; if you're a fan of the endorser, you're more likely to view the recipient of the endorsement favorably."
