The Francis video was terrific . The Sanders video is absolutely false: Mayor Sanders cannot take credit for ridding city beaches of alcohol and drunks. He and his police chief were obstructionist on the issue and it was City Attorney Mike Aguirre and community pressure (after a full-scale Labor Day riot at Pacific Beach), that caused a reluctant City Council to take up and grudgingly pass a one-year booze moratorium. As for cigarettes, I don't know....

The Steve Francis video is Mesmerizing. It was what San Diego use to be about; the beach, nature, freedom, and fun. We agree with Fed Up. Both City Attorney Mike Aguirre and Kevin Faulconer provided leadership and stood up for the beach ban. They both took the heat from the public and Mayor Sanders. link See Page 2 for Mr. Aguirre's report to the City Council on the Alcohol Ban Proposals. Page 147 documents Mayor Sanders' plan to only ban alcohol on Summer Holidays. Mayor Sanders' also recommended to repeal the Fouth of July Keg Ban.
