Published: Tuesday, December 2, 2008 7:21 PM PST

Esteban Nuñez, the 19-year-old son of former state Assembly Speaker Fabian Nuñez, was one of four men arrested in Sacramento today in relation to the Oct. 4 stabbing death of 22-year-old Luis Santos in San Diego.

Capt. Jim Collins of the San Diego Police Department confirmed that the junior Nuñez is the son of the former state assembly speaker. The other men arrested with Nuñez were Ryan Jett, Leshanor Thomas, and Rafael Garcia, all of whom are 19 years old. Police say they will be transported to San Diego and each will be charged with one count of murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the SDPD, the four men were identified by the department's homicide team as suspects in Santos' stabbing death, which occurred at 55th Street in the College West neighborhood.

Police say that at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 4, Santos and four friends were involved in a verbal and then a physical altercation with another group of four males. Santos and two of his friends were stabbed in the fight, according to the press release, and Santos died at the scene.
