Development Services Official Busted
A city employee took merchandise without permission from a place of business during the course of an official city inspection, an investigation by the Office of the City Auditor has concluded.
The investigation was conducted in response to a call made to the city's fraud hotline, according to a memo issued by the Office of the City Auditor and signed by City Auditor Eduardo Luna. The memo states that the employee admitted to taking the merchandise, "but claims it was offered to him." In addition, the employee admitted taking other items from job sites including duct tape and wood, the memo states.
The Development Services Department will be taking appropriate action against the employee, the memo states.
The memo provides no specifics on the case and an attempt to reach Luna for more details was unsuccessful.
