Ballast Point was sold this week for $1 billion to Constellation Brands, the same company that owns Pacifico and Corona and local beer geeks aren’t sure what it might mean for their beloved Sculpin IPA.

“Craft beer geeks are crying into their IPAs right now,” said Voice of San Diego’s Kinsee Morlan.

Morlan joined Voice of San Diego’s Andrew Keatts on the podcast this week to discuss the new community plan for southeastern San Diego, which includes neighborhoods like Logan Heights, Sherman Heights and Encanto. The plan changes the zoning of those neighborhoods and includes some unique arts and culture sections for development.

Morlan also visited Brian Goeltzenleuchter’s studio this week to learn what goes into creating a playlist of smells for a spoken word project. That’s right – Goeltzenleuchter mixes scents in a way that he compared to a DJ mixing sounds.
