California voters are going to have quite a task this November.

On this week’s show, Scott Lewis and I mused over just how many significant policy decisions voters are going to make during the general election, from legalizing marijuana to mandating porn actors wear condoms, approving plastic bag bans and limiting gun ammunition. We also learned this week that city voters could be asked to open up a new funding source for Balboa Park, and that the Chargers stadium bid just got much more difficult.

In the second half of the show we interviewed Jeff Marston of the Independent Voter Project, on his organization’s push for a ballot measure to ensure city elections can’t be won outright during primaries. We ask him about his motivations for the measure – and whether he has any apprehensions about the political outcomes it will create – and get more background on what the Independent Voter Project actually is.
