I'm back from my vacation and ready to clog up the Internets with some bandwidth-hogging images. Kelly put together a nice overview of the latest Case-Shiller home price data last Tuesday, so I will just put up some charts to add color.

Each price tier's decline from its respective peak:

The same thing but adjusted for inflation to represent how much home prices have changed in comparison to other things that people spend their dollars on:

A long term chart showing the various price tiers as far back as the data goes:

The same thing adjusted for inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index:

The year-over-year rate of change for prices has turned up sharply for everything but the high tier. This means that while prices are still declining, they are doing so more slowly than they were in mid- to late-2008:

And finally, a table indicating how far back in time the various price indexes have gone, both nominally and adjusted for inflation:
