Saving Kensington’s Historic Street Lights: Survival TV
Discussing why residents are proposing taxing themselves to save
the neighborhood’s historic street lights.
I joined our media partners at NBC 7 San Diego this week to discuss whyKensington residents have proposed a special tax on themselves to save the neighborhood’s historic street lights.
The city is moving the neighborhood’s power lines underground, and it’s told residents they’ll have to raise their own money if they don’t want their historic decorative lights replaced with generic city street lights, called cobra lights. It’s another example of the numerous small ways the city’s budget woes are forcing residents to open their wallets just a little wider to protect what they like about their neighborhoods.
