What Is District 1's Biggest Concern? - Voice of San Diego

What Is District 1's Biggest Concern?

Reporter Keegan Kyle will be spending next week in La Jolla and other neighborhoods that are part of San Diego City Council’s District 1. What should he write about? Who should he talk to? Where should he eat?

Next week I’ll be reporting from La Jolla, University City, Torrey Pines and Carmel Valley on the issues that residents there care about. If you live in the area, please get in touch with me.

My goal is to understand how you think city government could improve your quality of life. Which public facilities need repair? Which programs need more funding? Which regulations need altering?

I’ll write about your stories throughout the week and then take your concerns to the four candidates campaigning to represent you on the City Council. I’ll press them on their positions and how they plan to address the issues that matter the most to you.

The four candidates are incumbent Councilwoman Sherri Lightner, former retirement board head Ray Ellis, attorney Bryan Pease and Torrey Pines Planning Board chairman Dennis Ridz. You can see a map of San Diego City Council District 1 by clicking here.

So let’s meet for coffee, grab lunch, walk a neighborhood or chat over the phone. Just send an email to keegan.kyle@voiceofsandiego.org or call my cell phone, 619.206.5293. I’ll be sure to check both regularly.

I can’t wait to get started!

My coverage of District 1 is part of an ongoing series by Voice of San Diego reporters to cover the City Council elections. We’ve already taken a look at issues in District 9 and District 7, and are wrapping up District 5 this week.
