Before school board members began discussing its dire financial situation and the possibility of shutting down schools on Tuesday night, they got a moment of respite and reminder of what was at stake.

Students from Crown Point Junior Music Academy serenaded the overflowing boardroom with their own rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” It had crowd members beaming but also made for an emotional beginning to the meeting.

Under a proposal before the school board to help stave off insolvency, the school’s program would be moved to the nearby Bayview Terrace campus.
