Help Fix San Diego: What Next for Balboa Park?

We’re trying something new for Voice of San Diego Quarterly, our print edition.

We want to get more original community commentary into the pages. So each month we’re picking one question and putting it to targeted people around town. They have to answer it in 400 words or one image.

It’s not comprehensive, I know, but enough to spark some good thought.

We’re also going to throw that question wide open to the public, too.

This edition’s question: What should we tackle next in Balboa Park?

Let’s say Jacob’s Plaza de Panama plan isn’t going forward (though that’s not a given [1]). Let’s say we still have time to make one major improvement before the centennial party. What should we prioritize?

Maybe you think we should stay focused on removing cars from the Plaza de Panama. Maybe we should just throw a big party for the centennial. Or we go after something ambitious like converting the Arizona Landfill back to parkland. Or some other big wild idea.

Deadline would be noon on Monday, Feb. 25. Send your idea to me at andrew.donohue@voiceofsandiego.org [2].
