It was a proud day for Voice of San Diego reporter and radio co-host Andrew Keatts: The city’s independent budget analyst unofficially signed off on his name change for the so-called “linkage fee.”

Andrea Tevlin joined Keatts and Scott Lewis in the studio for this week’s episode of the podcast and humored the guys in their wonky enthusiasm, including a couple lightning rounds of VOSD’s favorite media-mocking game, Good or Bad.

Lewis and Keatts also mulled over what San Diego’s media landscape could look like with redistributed resources. We’re super serious on that investment pitch — $5.2 million pledged for three years to reshape neighborhood reporting. Who’s in?

Plus, the guys recapped Tuesday’s #noBSmayor debate, including some important considerations for who among the candidates would win in physical combat, and fact-checked Kevin Faulconer and Nathan Fletcher on their pension savings claims.

Find out why our Hero of the Week is Mike Aguirre, while the Goat of the Week title goes to Faulconer’s communications director, Tony Manolatos.
